The Rosen Group, an arts marketing and publishing agency located in
Baltimore, Maryland, was founded in 1981 by Wendy Rosen. The Rosen
Group was created to function similar to a trade association for American
crafts. "What craftspeople needed," Rosen says, "was
support from the kind of infrastructure other industries have developed
— trade shows, publications, and associations – but adjusted
to the needs and values of crafts artists." The Rosen Group encourages
newcomers, educates, provides a forum for ideas, and offers artists
a better way to sell their work through NICHE magazine (1988),
AmericanStyle magazine (1994), and wholesale opportunities
at the Buyers Market of American Craft (1982).
The Buyers Market of American Craft
The Buyers Market of American Craft is a wholesale trade show that
provides artists the opportunity to build business relationships with
craft buyers from all across the country. Approximately 2,000 artists
exhibit to more than 7,000 buyers from 3,000 companies from across
the United States and Canada. The biannual show, held every February
and July at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, sees
more than $42 million in sales each year. The show is among the Top
200 Trade Shows in the U.S. according to Trade Show Week magazine.
NICHE Magazine
NICHE magazine is a quarterly trade magazine exclusively for
craft retailers. More than 250 artists advertise in the magazine,
