ILLUMINATING
TIPS: LIGHTING GONE BAD
Its the end of the summer and many of us have returned from
the Buyers Market with some new friends and new ideas. Whether
we are seasoned veterans of the show or newbies, we can still learn
something from everyone, even if its the way we shouldnt
do things. Continuing from last months theme of lighting and
color, we now present to you some lighting ideas to AVOID.
1) Avoid hitting your customers with strong light as they enter
your booth. Customers shouldnt feel as if theyre being
hit with a spotlight.
2) Borrowing those long, swing arm lights from your home, office,
or childs bedroom is a no-no. These will not match your booth
design and will look out of place.
3) Wrapping lamp cords around poles should always be avoided. Instead,
try cable ties for a more professional look.
4) Rarely do industrial clamp lights with large, aluminum reflectors
look professional or create comfortable light.
5) Steer clear of running cords under carpeting or along the front
threshold of a booth.
6) Do not use garage flood lights or utility lighting.

MEN
WEAR JEWELRY TOO!
Men wear jewelry, and its not just limited to cufflinks for
formal occasions, office-acceptable watches or flashy necklaces
for music videos. More and more men are incorporating jewelry into
casual wear. According to recent reports and polls:
- While
men only make up 34% of jewelry market buyers, they on average
spend almost three times more than women a year.
- The
mens jewelry market is estimated at 5.5 million dollars
.
- 75%
of men wear jewelry.
- 80%
of men that wear jewelry wear 2 pieces or more.
- 80%
of women find men who wear fine jewelry attractive.
These
statistics were surprising to our office. After conducting a poll
at The Rosen Group we found that men wear an average of 1.25 pieces
of jewelry daily. While the guys here may wear less jewelry than
the average, we should keep in mind that jewelry has found a strong
audience in fashion-conscious younger men.
We asked the Creative
Metalsmiths Gallery what their most popular items among men
were.
The strongest sellers:
- Rings
- Cufflinks
- Tie
tacks and clips
