Which City or Town is the Nation’s Top Arts Destination?
Vote now for AmericanStyle magazine’s 2008 Top Arts Destinations
Baltimore, Md. (January 8, 2008) — Vote today! Cities and towns across the country are competing to be named the Top Arts Destinations by readers of AmericanStyle magazine.
The annual readers’ poll, now in its 11th year, showcases the nation’s hottest spots for arts and cultural tourism.
Voters can visit www.AmericanStyle.com to select their favorite arts destinations in three categories, based on city size. A paper ballot is also available in the February 2008 issue of AmericanStyle magazine, now on newsstands.
Voting in this year’s poll ends January 31.
One lucky voter will be chosen at random to receive a $500 travel gift certificate.
Last year, New York held its ground for a fourth consecutive year as the nation’s top arts destination in the Big Cities category. Pittsburgh captured the No. 1 in the Mid-Sized Cities category. Santa Fe won the No. 1 spot in the Small Cities and Towns category for the second year in a row.
Poll results and profiles of the highest ranking cities in each category will be featured at www.AmericanStyle.com and in the June 2008 issue of AmericanStyle magazine, on newsstands in late April.
Arts tourism is big business, according to the Americans for the Arts Arts and Economic Prosperity III report, with local, state and federal governments seeing a 7 to 1 return on investment. According to the report, the U.S. arts and culture industry generates more than $166 billion in economic activity nationally.
