“Peace & Politics” Craft Exhibit Moves to the Internet
Baltimore, Md. (August 25, 2008) - "Peace & Politics: An Artists' Agenda for America," a juried exhibit of fine American craft, is now available online at www.americanmadealliance.org.
Sponsored by the nonprofit arts advocacy group, American Made Alliance, "Peace & Politics" was on display August 2-4, during the Philadelphia Buyers Market of American Craft at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This show attracted hundreds of visitors and art retailers, who were struck both by the quality of the work and the poignancy of the messages.
The exhibit now continues in a slide show at the Alliance website. Also available online is the exhibit catalog, which provides contact information for the participating artists.
What is the "Peace & Politics" exhibit? In its call for entries, the American Made Alliance asked artists to speak directly to the political candidates through their work.
The resulting show reflects a range of issues challenging our nation and the arts industry during this election year. In ceramics, glass, art quilts, jewelry, wood, metal and even handbag design, the artists explore diverse topics including war, patriotism, the economy, immigration, the environment and gun control.
